Flint Eastwood live at the Detroit Masonic Temple.
Earlier this year I had the distinct pleasure of working with a team of Michigan’s most talented animators on Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.’s live visuals for their 2013 tour. The unveiling of everyone’s hard work at their April 20th Majestic theater show was such a lovely feeling.
This time around we wanted to capture live footage of the animations during their set for us to use in our reels and portfolios. Most all creatives can relate to that ill hatred of your work the minute you finish it, but seeing the animations we made 7 months ago projected in front of thousands this Saturday was a cathartic experience. The piece I did is still clunky and goofy, but to see my same exact skeleton dancing away on a giant ball made it easy to let go of its imperfections. He’s traveled around the country this year dancing for thousands, the same dance every night, while life over here moves on, and continuously spoils me.
To make an already awesome night even better, my lovely friends in Flint Eastwood opened the show and unsurprisingly killed it. I was able to film some of their set that night and threw together this short and sweet video.

My company will be doing a free video for Racquet Up Detroit so I went to get some reference footage/photos and am nothing short of excited for this project. Kids are awesome, program is awesome.
